Fall has Arrived!

It’s the first day of fall. The autumnal equinox. It officially arrived at 3:50 a.m. this morning (September 23). No more flip flops, days at the beach, or Hanks. For some, this can seem a bit depressing. Colder temperatures, shorter days, and wait for it…. snow. However, if you love the outdoors there is no better time. The leaves are changing creating a living tapestry of color, hunting season is about to go into full blown obsession, if you love to fish there is no better time than the fall season. Hiking and biking while the leaves are falling, and the temperatures are cooler are great ways to get outdoors. There are also fall festivals complete with apple deserts and pumpkin throwing if that is your thing.

At Yellowhammer Adventures it is all about the outdoors. The woods, rivers, streams, mountains, and an occasional PSU football game are the places we like to spend our time. Goose hunters are already hitting the fields and archery season is about to open in Pennsylvania as well as small game season. That will be followed closely by new bear seasons in the state with a new whitetail deer opening day just around the corner. If you love to fish, then fall trout stocking will begin on October 1st on selected streams across the state. Steelhead ally will also be ramping up as we move into the fall season. If you enjoy simply watching wildlife and love scenic drive’s, then a trip to Benezette to see Pennsylvania’s elk might be an idea or perhaps a bike ride down the Oil Creek bike trail.

The days are getting shorter and the temperatures are getting cooler but that doesn’t mean that the fun stops. Sure, you must dress a little warmer and put on a pair of boots but the fun and enjoyment you will have by spending time outdoors in the fall is well worth the sacrifice. It is by a wide margin our favorite time of the year. There are more things to do than time to do them, but we will try.
